Baines’ River Camp

Baines’ River Camp is ideally situated on the northern banks of the scenic and majestic Lower Zambezi River in Zambia. Adjacent to Baines’ River Camp is the Lower Zambezi National Park. This safari lodge in Zambia is also situated directly opposite Mana Pools in Zimbabwe.


You will feel at home from the moment you arrive at Baines’ River Camp. This luxurious and intimate safari lodge is set amid Tamarind and Jackalberry trees and can accommodate up to 20 guests.

You can choose between King and Twin Suites and our private two-bedroom Baines Cottage is ideal for young families. On arrival, a friendly face awaits you in the Selous Bar with a refreshing drink before you unpack and get ready for your first activity. Or you may prefer to just take in the scenery and settle down with your binoculars on our main verandah to gaze over the Zambezi, Africa’s fourth largest river.

Spa: We offer massages and beauty treatments in the privacy of your room. Treatments are limited to facials, pedicures, manicures and nail re-varnish.

Conference Venues: The Boardroom is equipped with HD digital projector, canvas projection screen, flip chart, air-conditioning, and floor mounted electrical sockets for laptop charging. It can seat up to 16 delegates comfortably.

Guests can access Baines’ River Camp by air charter from Lusaka Livingstone or Mfuwe. The charter flight from Lusaka will take about 30 minutes while the flights from Living stone and Mfuwe will take about an hour and 45 minutes.

The more adventurous traveller can drive to Baines’ River Camp. However, as the road is extremely rough in places, especially the last 60km (37.28 miles), a 4×4 vehicle is strongly recommended. Alternatively you can drive as far as Gwabi River Lodge and be transferred to Baines’ River camp by boat.
