Not a reliable agency Booked a return trip with Chris Tours. One way was great. The driver was there and picked up. The return was a mess. Landed up having to take a taxi. We ran out of time due to this. As well as the fact that I paid Chris Tours for the whole trip. He has thus far been unwilling/unable to provide any kind of refund. Disappointing service.

Great Transport Comapny I used Chris Tours for transport from Victoria Falls Airport to the Waterfront in Zambia. They greeted me with a sign at the airport, were timely, and helped with the boarder crossing. 10/10 would recommend Chris Tours.

efficient and reliable transfer service! Chris Tours provided our transfer from the Avani in Livingstone to the Livingstone airport. We found Chris on TripAdvisor and booked with the company because of the positive reviews. Booking and communication via email with Golden was very easy and he confirmed via email several days prior to our arrival. While the Avani offered to provide the transfer at half the price, we stuck with Chris Tours because of their professionalism and easy of communication; we felt comfortable paying a bit extra just for peace of mind. Our driver arrived on time and provided a short tour of Livingstone on our way to the airport. If we are ever in the area again, would definitely reach out to Chris Tours for assistance. Crossing the various borders between Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia is not necessarily easy to navigate without the help of locals and I'm sure that Chris would be a valuable resource when needed. Thank you for making our departure from Livingstone easy!

Five Stars I travel to Zambia often with university students and Chris always takes such good care of our group. He goes the "second mile" to make our trip wonderful and troubleshoots issues in immigration to smooth our journey. We are thankful to have him as a friend in Zambia.

Exploring Zambia and Botswana Each year we bring a group of students from the USA and each year we use Chris tours. He and his crew always make sure that we receive excellent service and that we have excellent experiences. Each year, we utilize Chris Taxi and Tours for our trip to Chobe National Park, Livingstone Game Drive, Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi, and the Lunar Rainbow at Victoria Falls.

Seamless experience Chris and his guide Obran were excellent both in the organisation of our transfers to and from Kasane as well as the tour of the Falls. We also enjoyed a personal visit from Chris at our hotel that he also booked for us.

Airport transfers and Livingstone Island tour We booked airport transfers and the Livingstone Island tour with Chris and the team. They provided a fantastic service in advance - Golden always responded quickly on email and was super flexible when travel restrictions impacted our plans at the last minute. On arrival, Chris and Steve really looked after us, including arranging the Livingstone Island and Devil's Pool tour - which was incredible. A definite must-do activity! Thanks Chris, Steve and Golden for everything!

Fantastic experience in Zambia I want to express my most profound gratitude to Chris Tours for an incredible job. They did everything possible to ensure I had a great experience. Chris made changes on the run because of COVID and the trip went very smoothly. My guide Obrian was quite simply outstanding. He was professional and knowledgeable and you could tell it was extremely important to him that I enjoyed my excursion. If you need a guide service in Livingston I highly recommend these folks. Best wishes Ron Brown

Victoria Falls Day Trip We were happy using this company to take us on a one day trip from Botswana to Zambia for a day trip of Victoria Falls. Chris was such a great communicator and created an excellent itinerary to get the most out of our day trip. We had an amazing trip starting with a microlight, then a swim in angel's pool, then a hike next to the falls and finally a zipline. He was able to get us quickly across the border both ways and made our trip very enjoyable! He was very knowledgeable about the falls and very good communicator when planning our trip. Thanks again!

Travel dates back to antiquity where wealthy Greeks and Romans would travel for leisure to their summer homes and villas in cities such as Pompeii and Baiae. While early travel tended to be slower, more dangerous, and more dominated by trade and migration, cultural and technological advances over many years have tended to mean that travel has become easier and more accessible. Mankind has come a long way in transportation since Christopher Columbus sailed to the new world from Spain in 1492, an expedition which took over 10 weeks to arrive at the final destination; to the 21st century where aircraft allow travel from Spain to the United States overnight.

“Do you see over yonder, friend Sancho, thirty or forty hulking giants? I intend to do battle with them and slay them.”

— Don Quixote

Travel in the Middle Ages offered hardships and challenges, however, it was important to the economy and to society. The wholesale sector depended (for example) on merchants dealing with/through caravans or sea-voyagers, end-user retailing often demanded the services of many itinerant peddlers wandering from village to hamlet, gyrovagues (Wandering Monks) and wandering friars brought theology and pastoral support to neglected areas, traveling minstrels practiced the never-ending tour, and armies ranged far and wide in various crusades and in sundry other wars. Pilgrimages were common in both the European and Islamic worlds and involved streams of travelers both locally (Canterbury Tales-style) and internationally.

Story Teller

In the late 16th century it became fashionable for young European aristocrats and wealthy upper-class men to travel to significant European cities as part of their education in the arts and literature. This was known as the Grand Tour, it included cities such as London, Paris, Venice, Florence, and Rome. However, The French revolution brought with it the end of the Grand Tour.

Travel by water often provided more comfort and speed than land-travel, at least until the advent of a network of railways in the 19th century. Travel for the purpose of tourism is reported to have started around this time when people began to travel for fun as travel was no longer a hard and challenging task. This was capitalized on by people like Thomas Cook selling tourism packages where trains and hotels were booked together. Airships and airplanes took over much of the role of long-distance surface travel in the 20th century, notably after the Second World War where there was a surplus of both aircraft and pilots. Indeed, air travel has become so ubiquitous in the 21st century that one woman, Alexis Alford, visited all 196 countries before the age of 21.
